A Look at Wrinkle Treatments

By Anne Fennell

As of late, big gains have been made in the area of cosmetic procedures, and facial wrinkles are a heavy focus in this. When one has wrinkles on their face, the nature of the world today looks at them like they are "older", and such a big value is placed on a youthful looking face.

How is the method of wrinkle treatments administered? Treatments in this area are offered by a wide variety of medical professionals, however, what information should you have before deciding? Below, we will look further into what these processes entail for wrinkle treatments.

Exactly what is involved when getting wrinkle treatments?

Damage to our skin can come from a variety of sources, pollutants in the atmosphere coming from vehicle exhaust, potentially harmful UV exposure from the sun, smoke, many things contribute to this. The skin forms these wrinkles that are seen on the face, and the more there is, the less attractive some people consider you to be, unfortunately.

Botulinum toxin is used to smooth out the fine lines in one's face, and these wrinkle treatments can make a big difference aesthetically. Other treatments can include chemical peels, laser treatments and even just plain old skin creams. The popularity of botox treatments is gaining ground quickly, despite the other options available. However, these days anti-wrinkle creams are being advertised all the time, so while they may be popular they may not necessarily be the most effective.

Which of the available treatments will have the most benefit?

Unfortunately there is no clear answer to this question. Depending on the patient and the type of wrinkles on their face, a treatment that will help them best will be determined and administered. The effectiveness of treatments using botox injections or other dermal fillers is well known, so more and more people appear to be choosing this method.

How long do treatments last for?

The effects correlate to the particular treatment that is provided. Skin creams have short lived effects and need repeat application often, sometimes daily to show any effect whatsoever. More advanced treatments such as dermal fillers and botox injections can last a few months.

The comparison of cost and results

This kind of advanced facial wrinkle treatment can't be bought with pocket change. The process chosen and the treatment provider are the deciding factors in cost, it can be around $300 or even up to $3000 or more, as these advanced treatments take specialized equipment, materials, and training. A less expensive option are skin creams, but they need to be used frequently, and products kept replenished. After a period of time, the proper cost of treatments and the results obtained can be measured more accurately. Overall however, it may be that botox injections and dermal fillers are the most cost effective amongst all the treatments available for face wrinkles. CO2 lasers are touted by certain physicians as being the treatments that are most cost effective.

The healing process following treatments

There are no side effects to recover from when using skin creams, no healing required. However, amongst the more advanced treatments of facial wrinkles, it appears that microdermabrasion probably has the least downtime. This of course does not mean that it is the greatest treatment available, or that patients prefer the treatment process any more, as it is reported to be kind of unpleasant.

Synopsis

Wrinkle treatments for facial wrinkles are many. There are both good and bad points for each kind of treatment. There are many factors to consider, including cost, the type of treatment and the comfort of the process itself, and the experience and professional nature of the treatment provider.
